Decemeber 14th, The Atlantic Mandolin Quartet
Uniting four of today's most compelling
mandolinists—Ekaterina Skliar, Carrera Stamile,
Gabriel Locati, and Dor Gidon Amran—the Atlantic
Mandolin Quartet is dedicated to advancing the art of
classical mandolin chamber music in the 21st century.
With a shared passion for both tradition and innovation,
the ensemble brings new energy to a rich repertoire that
spans classical, romantic, and contemporary works.
Hailing from the United States, Israel, and Russia, the members of the quartet are active as soloists, educators, and chamber musicians. The group was formed after the four artists met at the University of Rhode Island Guitar and Mandolin Festival, where they connected over a shared vision: to create a top-level mandolin ensemble based in the United States and to elevate the visibility of classical mandolin performance.
The founder of the quartet, Ekaterina Skliar, is an award-winning mandolinist and domrist who has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across the United States, Europe, and Russia. A winner of the 2019 Astral National Auditions, she has received top prizes in numerous international
competitions, and her domra and mandolin recordings were recognized with Silver Medals from the Global Music Awards in 2019 and 2020. Ekaterina holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in MusicPerformance from the M. Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory, where she studied domra and mandolin with Professor Andrey Kugaevsky.
Carrera Stamile, based in Spartanburg, SC, is an active solo performer and chamber collaborator. She is a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award (2022) and was featured on NPR’s From the
Top. Carrera made her orchestral debut at age 16 with the Piedmont Chamber Orchestra and was a featured soloist at the Young Artist Performances in Hilton Head, SC, in 2025. She is currently pursuing a degree in classical mandolin performance at Converse University under the guidance of Dr. Courtney LeBauer and Jacob Reuven.
Gabriel Locati, a Philadelphia-based mandolinist, has been deeply engaged with the city’s rich mandolin tradition since his earliest training, performing with ensembles such as the Munier Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra and the Philadelphia Mandolin Ensemble. His career includes solo appearances, chamber collaborations, and orchestral performances on mandolin, mandola, and mandocello. Gabriel holds a Bachelor’s degree and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in mandolin performance atTemple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance, where he studies with guitarist Allen Krantz.
Israeli mandolinist, conductor, and pianist Dor Gidon Amran brings a wide-ranging artistic vision to the quartet. His recent achievements include the release of his debut album featuring the world premiere of Paganini’s 24 Caprices on mandolin, a live performance at the Paganini Festival in Genoa, and a recording of Bach’s Cello Suites on mandocello. A graduate of the Jerusalem Academy of Music, Dor is currently pursuing a Master’s in Orchestral Conducting at Penn State University whilecontinuing to perform internationally.
Drawing on their diverse international backgrounds, the quartet is committed to celebrating the legacy of classical mandolin performance while expanding its possibilities through new commissions and fresh interpretations. The Atlantic Mandolin Quartet offers audiences a vibrant musical experience
